Pregnancy scans

Ultrasound provides information about pregnancy dating, fetal development, placental position, growth and other features. The scans you need depend on gestation and clinical circumstances. Pregnancy care is provided through Dr Tini’s practice in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

Dating and early pregnancy

An early scan may help establish gestational age, confirm the pregnancy location and assess development when clinically appropriate.

Later pregnancy scans

Different scans answer different clinical questions. Some assess anatomy, growth, placental position or fetal wellbeing. Your clinician will explain which scans are recommended and why.

3D and 4D imaging

3D/4D imaging may provide additional views, but it does not replace medically indicated diagnostic ultrasound or specialist assessment.

Understanding results

Ultrasound findings are interpreted in context. If a scan raises a concern, Dr Tini will discuss what it means and whether additional imaging or referral is needed.
