Birth planning

Birth planning is a conversation rather than a guarantee. It helps you understand your preferences, clinical considerations, hospital arrangements and what may change if circumstances change. Pregnancy care is provided through Dr Tini’s practice in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

Discuss your preferences

Topics can include labour support, pain relief, mobility, feeding intentions, vaginal birth, Caesarean birth and what matters most to you during the experience.

Clinical factors

Your pregnancy history, placental position, baby’s presentation, growth, previous surgery and health conditions may influence recommendations.

Hospital arrangements

The practice will explain where you are expected to present for labour or planned admission, what to bring and any pre-admission requirements.

Plans can change

Labour and pregnancy can be unpredictable. If circumstances change, the care team will discuss the safest appropriate next step with you whenever possible.
