Labour
Labour usually involves regular contractions and progressive cervical change. Your care team will advise when to attend the maternity unit based on your circumstances and the instructions given to you.
Monitoring during labour
Maternal and fetal wellbeing are monitored in a way appropriate to your pregnancy and labour. Pain-relief options and supportive measures can be discussed.
If assistance is needed
Sometimes labour needs additional intervention or the safest plan changes to Caesarean birth. Reasons and options will be explained as circumstances allow.
After birth
Postnatal care includes maternal recovery, bleeding, pain, feeding support and monitoring your baby. Ask for help if you are concerned.
